KUNST.EE – the magazine of art and visual culture in Estonia, which from 2009 to 2012 was published as a joint biannual, will now be published as a quarterly in Estonian and English – about art in Estonia and abroad – just as from 2000 to 2008, when readers were used to receiving it four times a year. In 2012 the magazine will undergo a unique restart. The first issue in 2012 will be a special edition, so as to better introduce this new beginning. This special edition is compiled by Heie Treier, and raises a bold hypothesis about the connection between the work of world famous Estonian born American architect Louis Kahn (1901– 1974) and the medieval castle in Kuressaare, Saaremaa. In short: Kuressaare castle had a direct influence on Kahn who lived in Saaremaa as a young boy, and who went on to write his name in bold letters on the history of 20th century architecture. How, when and why will be revealed shortly over the next few pages. For your reading pleasure...
