Fresh issue still on sale! "I will leave this page open, looks like it's not loading. Let me know when it's working again." – Taavi Eelmaa & InferKit, "Triaad" (4/2022)

Summer 2019

What is shown to us at the 58th International Art Exhibition, la Biennale di Venezia, where Estonians too have set up their national pavilion (this time in a new place, on the island of Giudecca)? What is Tommy Cash doing at Kumu Art Museum and who gave him the keys to the kingdom, as it were? Do fashionable clothes automatically become art or do we still need some wider (cultural, social, political, etc.) framework for displaying the creations of fashion designers in an art museum? Why does Liina Siib keep returning to the topic of women and the archetypes and stereotypes related to them? In what century was the male nude first introduced in Estonian art and how does a naked body affect art audiences today? From where do images and matter come into an art worker's life and where do all their holidays and leisure time go?

They say art is larger than life, but that is just one reason to get yourself this issue of KUNST.EE, the art quarterly devoted to various aspects of contemporary art and visual culture in Estonia. All other reasons are already rather more specific, inviting the reader to delve into an artwork, follow the artist and to critically consider the results.

In this summer issue, questions in the field of art are posed by Indrek Grigor, Janar Ala, Elnara Taidre, Liina Siib, Kaire Nurk, Hedi Rosma, Kärt Kelder, Carl-Dag Lige, Stefan Žarić, Mari-Liis Rebane, Ott Karulin, et al. Questions, questions, questions…

Stay tuned!
