Music from the Death Factory: TDK
Maria Juur (3-4/2009)
The promotional image for the exhibition TDK at the Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia (CAME) was an audiocassette, which created the impression that it was an exhibition of sound art. This is not completely wrong, because in addition to the multi media installations displayed, the exhibition culminated in a party on Sunday night, featuring performances by bands and DJs. While CAME has primarily housed exhibitions of works by young and very young artists organised by older curators, TDK was different in the sense that the artists who participated were older and undoubtedly more established. Incidentally, the organiser of the exhibition, Neeme Külm, modestly refused to be headlined as the curator, claiming that his idea was primarily to come up with artists independent enough and able to take the initiative.
