In this paper we describe a material ‘SymbiosisW’ that is an interactive textile, reactive to touch and the close presence of people. The material is part of the nature-inspired research project ‘SymbiosisO’ that focuses on interactive design objects in which smart textiles are combined with soft electronics. The fabricated hybrid material can also be considered an organic display that reacts to unique environmental stimuli and responds by notably changing colour as well as pattern.
